Berhanu Debotch is used to be a lecturer at the Department of History at Alemaya University from 2000-2006 and also at the Alpha University College from 2009 to 2010. Currently he is working as editor at the Addis Abeba University Press since 2011.

Berhanu is well known for his book review weekly columnist in many of the newspapers in the country including Addis Neger, Fitih, Addis Times, Lilina, and Fact. Berhanu is a PhD candidate.
